When viewed in ultraviolate, flowers look completely different. Some flower petals have what look like runway approach and landing stripes.

Did you know that bumblebees can detect whether a flower was visited by them or another bee? They will quickly move on to the next flower if so.

Fran, have you seen bumble bees sleeping on flowers? I have seen quite a few on our flowers that look like they’re sleeping. They lay there a while and then fly away. It’s interesting.
There's a big, bushy lavender plant outside my front door; around this time of year it attracts dozens of bust bees. 😊

Hate to put a bit of a downer on such a wonderful video Fran et al. Bees are great and we need to protect and promote their preferred habitats. Especially grasslands as Bumble Bees prefer to make their nest on the ground. But that looks like Japanese Knotweed, which is a highly invasive species that can reduce the biodiversity in an area, by out competing native plants. It's a amazing plant that can force it's way through concrete and can spread out to take over an area in a short period of time. We are trying to eradicate it in the UK, especially by rivers and streams, for these reasons.
Bumbles are allegedly too heavy for their wings to physically lift it. Some form of levitation involved. Natures secrets.

I love bumble bees. I always make sure to plant the flowers they like. I find solitary bees much more interesting than honey bees and try to attract as many different species as I can to my garden.
What type of flowers were they?
I love listening to the bees collecting pollen from my Rose's. They always seem to make a angry little buzzing sound like their impatient for the rose to give up the goods.
