1. sounds like the same thing as what's been done to people financially for years. The big push for there to be only 2 groups, the big biggies with all the "fill in the blank" and the small fries, who can never get big enough to matter. Not surprising some have been leaving youtoob altogether. Regardless, I wish you luck.

2. You dont make enough money ? im meant for youtube and its owners – anyway i dont get those chanels that have less than 10 wievs with any of their content or 100 wievs . So i belive it ok change for all chanels doing 1000 wievs but they are diluting all 1000-20 000 wiev chanels forcing them out -But hey dont do enough money for youtube and those less than 1000 so they dont care for them ..at all -If some searches for a small chanels -basicilly all content from youtube are gone after the first hour ..so search for small every hour since thier content will be on the bottom list in youtube algoritm -forever gone unles you do a 10 hour serach which youtube just want you to do -making money for youtube whilst searching

3. Dear Fran, I'm a Newby to your group but I have always been in tech from the time I was a little kid. In 1952, the year I was born, ten UFOs flew around the White House. I watched all of the sci-fi and horror movies as a kid. Since I was the last of ten kids, my parents passing away, and the older kids seeking lives of their own, the television of the 50s and 60s became my babysitter, comic books and Heathkits were my entertainment when available. At one point in 1960, an IBM salesman tried to sell shares of stock in that company for $1 a share to my father. He briskly was turned away by my father immediately after the salesman's pitch. I asked my dad, "What is a stock?" It wasn't long after that I soon realized the need to find employment. I received my "greetings" from Uncle Sam, enlisted, and received electronic training in Radio-Relay Equipment repair. When I left the military, I continued in the private sector in automotive plants and eventually into electronics again as a tradesman, a Trades Supervisor, training apprentices, and once introduced high school students to careers in the automotive industry. It was a brief introduction to plant operations requiring only about 4 hours. In summary, I explained to them that "This place (factory) runs on money. If you find a way to make them money or save them with money, they will reward you with money." They repeated that to some folks at the Chamber of Commerce. They were so impressed by what they learned that they awarded me a commendation from the city.

4. You Tube was best around 2014. I loved being able to customise the layout and of course there was freedom of speech so the best of both worlds. I remember when all of a sudden I couldn't access my stuff unless I sighed up with Google firstly then they offered a revert button so I kept my config and look of my layout. Then just a little while later they took this away too.

   I now pretty much dislike U-tube and only use it for finding things that really interest me and this is mostly advanced music theory, anything science and Climate Change news and blogs. I haven't watch regular TV now for many yrs because it isn't worth it. This never used to be a problem however the last few yrs U-tube suggestions have appeared to narrowed a lot. Same names come up and so I feel I stumble upon great stuff just by chance much less often.

   I am glad I have 100s of videos saved as many of these if I search for now have turned into 1 min clips or disappeared completely.

5. Fran, what is so frustrating about this, is that this is exactly why everyone uses ad blockers, and I do not watch YouTube on mobile devices where adblocking is more difficult. I wish that I could select specific content creators and disable ads for just them, and so long as they respected me by placing ads only at the beginning or for >30 min videos in logical break points, I would watch their ads and give you and Google money.

   But no, Google wants to disrespect me and throw ads in at the worst possible places, so you know how much money they get from me? Nothing. Their quest for larger and larger profits means that they have lost revenue from me. Same thing with the pop up/pop under/loud video playing ads/and the ads linking to malware or scams which I presume are still all over the internet. I don't see them, because I block them. Instead of advertisers who respect me getting money, nobody gets money.

6. The real problem is that YouTube doesn’t do what we tell them to do but instead so what they think will be best for us. I click every button I can, subscribe, get all notifications, whatever and yet they still don’t show me stuff from the channels that I love and instead insist that I want to watch stuff that I really don’t want to watch. It’s infuriating.

7. It's the ups and downs of life. Sometimes its up. Sometimes its down.
   I had to demonstrate an audio system to a chap who turned out to be a theremin player. He bought in a bunch of theremin music and sat there 'air theremining' throughout the demo.
   Can't remember if I made a sale, I was the service manager so my salesmanship wasn't honed like the rest..

8. That explains why I'm getting view recommendations in my notifications now when I never did before.

   I can't confirm my suspicion, but I feel that there are more and more people out there that have so many subscriptions that they'd rather just go to their subscription page than use Home or Explore as evidenced by the fact I'm 2 days behind in catching up. Who has time to look for newer channels that have nothing to do with your interests when you already have a bunch to watch in addition to work, personal life, sleep, etc. There's only so much time, and I certainly don't want to waste it on non-interests. And Google / Alphabet have more than likely noticed that trend, hence the changes.

9. Greed feeds on greed. I'm thankful for YT because I seek truth and knowledge. This is a platform to do just that; especially like your channel. I also seek entertainment. The growing policies that YT has implemented this past year, if continued, is going to make YT (not too big) to fail. Ever hear of shooting yourself in the foot? No doubt there needs to be fairness and some restrictions on content for whatever the current moral ground among humans. You do such a good job and I would only hope that the quality channels could be viewed by those at YT that make not so intelligent changes, would apply the usefulness of intelligent, constructive content for entertainment value and not be so concerned about how much profit can be made. Seems like this is what happens when motivations shift from learning, entertainment and knowledge to profit potential. Thank you Fran for all you do and show us; you are Amazing!
