Gone... but not forgotten. And you can still get them (sort of...) Big Brand O's all contain loads of high fructose corn syrup (not cane sugar) which makes them taste like they have a battery mixed in - in my opinion.... But hey - if you're a fan of corporate O's be my guest. So long Joe's O's! You had a good run.

Fran, something is off about the quality of the image of this video. Looks like it's over exposed a little bit.

Fran, look at chips, they reduce the quantity in bags and keep the same prices. They are doing the same with these can of soup. original one was thicker, now it's soup like. they are cutting on what is going inside or if you prefer watering down. They do that to cash in more by offering less without changing the size and volume of these can.

Don't you hate when the powers that be (i.e. marketing departments) decree that your favourite stuff is no longer a thing?

In my case, it is Barmouth biscuits (i.e. English cookies). All gone now, though, just like Aztec bars, penny chews and fruit salad chews.

I was dismayed when Del Monte stopped making their sloppy joe sauce. It was so much better than the Manwich brand. I had found a lot of 6 cans on the net. Thru were pricey but I didn't care. The only problem I had with the transaction was that the cans were all severely dented. They seems ok once opened.
    I feel your pain.

That's disappointing for you, maybe Campbell's "spaghettiOs" or Heinz "spaghetti hoops" could fill the gap?
In Australia, none of our big brands seem to even make a tinned spaghetti hoops, but our tinned baked beans and spaghetti are in sugar laden tomato sauce… ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I don't know why but I found this really interesting. I don't even know what Joe's O's are, I live in New Zealand but I do hope Fran finds a suitable replacement for her favourite snack soon.

Or…you could cook up your own with your pick of ingredients. Spanish tomatoes with green peppers and onions, some Mexican-mix with black beans, rice, corn… Borrow a friends pressure cooker so they can sit in the pantry. Not as convent as popping the top and putting a spoon in but more special. Hey, a new series…conductivity/sodium-content tests, canning temperatures/time/altitude… 🙂

Well, everyone will have to save up their Whatsis O's cans, and after you finally croak, it will become a thing to make a pilgrimage to Philadelphia and leave a can on your grave. The other cemetery visitors will scratch their heads and wonder why everyone is neatly piling up their garbage at one spot, but we will know.

Kraft Mac and Cheese has done the same thing, they actually lowered the powder mix by about 20%. it used to be creamy and coated with sauce, now it's just enough to coat and then absorb into the noodles leaving them a lot dryer. I worked at a grocery store for a number of years and they were always raising the price, lowering the ounces… but I guess overpopulation and "covid" have led to these shortages to the point where they have to actually skimp on ingredients in hopes of still making their millions of profit and not running out. Frankly it's concerning to me…

never thought I'd live to see the day where soilent green was JUST around the corner.

Fran on a totally different side channel. Save the O's!
Also I'm surprised Fran that you're not using a can opener that uncrimps the cans, instead of the old can cutters.

Hey Fran, I see you have one of those old school work lamps on a swivel mount on your workbench there. I have a similar one in Papaya orange. Unfortunately the base of mine is brittle old plastic and is cracked. Does yours use an aftermarket base or is it factory? I love those swivel lamps and they make great desk space lights so I’d like to be able to use mine again.

Always like a video about food! In the UK we call them Spaghetti Hoops. Heinz is the biggest brand but there's lots of others. I sometimes eat them straight from the tin (can) too!

Probably better for you than Top Ramen. I don't know about you but when I'm in the middle of a project I don't care about food – I just need something to fill the hole so I can keep working. When I was a kid, my older cousin would eat Campbell's Bean Soup out of the can. We thought he was crazy. Turns out he was just ahead of his time. It looks almost like the ubiquitous frijoles on the shelves today.

Friends of mine told me they could no longer get a favorite Trader Joe's item . Forgot what it was but the point being is it has been discontinued . So not the only thing no longer available there.

As a fellow autistic person, i understand the frustration when a food you're familiar with and use as a staple is changed for seemingly no/arbitrary reasons. Happened to me with favorite aldi's fruit snacks several years ago, and more recently rice-a-roni seems to go back in forth between good and downright inedible. Probably supply chain issues due to covid.
Anyway, hope you enjoy your annie o's

It’s the same with Heinz and Toast Topper’s and tinned sponge pudding’s, I certainly know that it’s been 25 years since these were a part of teenage years. Not found a tinned pudding substitute or equivalent. No even Tesco or Asda don’t bother with

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J.C. Wise says:

Funny I have experienced the same thing with other food products, for example Seven Seas Viva Herbs and Spices Salad dressing was the only dressing I liked and they stopped making it years ago. I seems like the products I liked the best get discontinued, i guess because of not enough buyers of it or some dumb corporate decision.

Hey Fran. I'm a big gamer and I'd love to see you dissect Nintendo consoles and handhelds. See how they work, just here what you ahve to say on them. Maybe clean or repurpose some, could get a lot of views and I would love watching. Maybe even older systems. But yeah, Gamecubes, DS', gameboys, SNES', NES', Wii's, 3DS', Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Atari, etc. etc. I hope you consider it!
