Rick Beato did a tour of his recording studio on his channel recently. He has a huge collection of guitar petals. I wouldn't want to have to change the batteries in all of them at once!

I remember friends trying to build their own pedals but they were using Radio Shack project boxes and found out that they had to operate them with their fingers instead of their feet. I think that one dude mounted his on the back side of his guitar near the jack. It was a basic overdrive with 1 switch, 1 pot.
