This classic Coronet film from shows that people are people, so why should it be, you and I should get along so awe-fully? Faded, but true. Features lots of shots of Dorney Park in Allentown PA, back in 1967. This reel was transferred from my own 16mm archive print using my Eiki Telecine. The Eiki projects a 24fps print at 30 frames per second for a flickerless NTSC transfer. A special diffusion plate eliminates the 'hot spot' of the projector, and the sound is pulled right from the optical track.

This was a deceptively simple yet beautifully complete little film. I'm especially impressed that it acknowledged the differences in people, rather than trying to promote "colorblindness," and it even touched on class differences. Obviously its goal was to normalize these differences to young people, and for that purpose, I think it did a respectable job. ๐
The kids laughing at the end, sounds creepy. Cause it all looks unnatural to what is being shown.

This needs to be at least a daily PSA !! Lose the advertisements for some useless product or alleged " entertainment " show, and open up program slots for this kind of content .
I can't help but wonder what happened since 1976. Why doesn't this just work out? We all are different, yet so much alike. No need to hate someone for being different as there is so much we share!
Yaaaaay, you deserve some great reward for that Depeche Mode reference :). One of my fav bands, I got to know them as a kid back in '90s when CDs became all the rage here and my brother borrowed a lot of them from his buddies, then copied them to cassettes. DM soon became my "special interest" band and my brother literally had to get every album up to Violator and tape it. I saved a vast part of his collection from ending up in a dumpster when he was moving out, and I still have it, though the sound quality has degraded from playing them over and over again.
What a positive and wise, yet so simple movie. I really loved the message, given the historical context (PoC emancipation, and Stonewall coming shortly after). It's still so true, and now with the Taliban taking over Afghanistan and Poland not wanting to let refugees in, even more so! The (mis)governing Law(lessness) and (in)Justice party here has long lost any reason and human dignity. Just how fucked up one has to be to let people literally die out there in the cold, with no medical care or food?
This is great. The roller coaster you see at the end of this film, the Flying Dutchman (it was called, not sure if it is still there) is the first roller coaster I ever rode. I lived on the edge of the Lehigh Valley so Dorney Park was the closest amusement park by far.
You would think that Everyday People by Sly & The Family Stone would have been the last word, riffing as it did on the central concept in this film. I grew up watching The Big Blue Marble and they were trying to get the point across that way: they'd show people all over the world in different cultures and if it was explained right, you could understand why other kids lived the way they did or did the things they did.
How wrenching it is that we are decades past this film, and those other things I mentioned, and people still haven't internalized this.
