This British public service reel from the mid 1960's is an interesting snapshot of a moment in time in many ways. Interesting to note that as illustrated rather graphically in this film, everything about the health dangers and mechanisms of smoking were well known even then, and in 2022 people are still eagerly puffing away. Enjoyyyhhhhhggcough!

As someone with asthma, this kind of puts some shade on those of us who Just Don't Breathe Right.

The odd thing about smoking is that you don't know how each person's lungs handle smoking. Some people die young and other smoke most of their lives and only die when they are 70+. Some die really young and never smoke in their life. My mother was 84 when she passed on and she was a heavy smoker. Myself, I refused to smoke even though most my family and some of my friends do/did. I refused to smoke because it always a stupid ideal to do and it looks boring.
Fran, did you ever think about adding text to the area that has music or somehow add CC to your video.because CC is unavailable for this video.

In the early 90's Philip Morris was required to publish the list of ingredients as part of a lawsuit, I called in and receive a copy in the mail. It was like 600 compounds, lots of extracts of nuts and spices, but around half were just chemicals (4-Methyl-3-Pentene-2-One, 2-Methyl-4-Phenylbutyraldehyde, 6-Methyl-5-Hepten-2-One, 4-Methyl-5-Thiazoleethanol,) I was studying biochemistry and toxicology at the time, It blew my mind.

Has anyone recommended the British comedian Harry Enfield's "Mr Cholmondley Warner" parodies of UK informational films? Please take a look if you fancy a laugh.

This brings back memories of me being inside crowded bingo halls with my grandma back in the day. There's something grossly nostalgic about the smell of cigarettes combined with bingo dauber ink. And the way it lingered in the layers of fabric on my neon windbreaker jacket, which would assault my eyes under the harsh florescent nicotine-stained lights 🙃 Yikes….
