Sadly a very faded print, as this would be more wonderful if the color were in full bloom - but I did my best to turn this completely pink 16mm reel into something more viewable. Of course it has some Space stuff in it! A good view of a desert tracking station towards the end - but this is a mostly a fascinating and charming little educational film about how desert plants do their thing. I learned a lot!

Fran, I'd like to encourage you to upload all of these, in their intact, un-gated form, to The Internet Archive.

Watching the first part of this reminded me that I just recently got my apartment portable humidifier working for the winter heating season, (electric baseboards)…What a difference now!…My plants seem to love it and I'm feeling better too, with no dry itchy skin and no more sore throat…we all need water in some form.

I pictured a young Paul Atreides sitting at his desk on Caladan watching this film before the trip to Arrakis on the Guild Highliner….

I wonder if Joey Santore (the "Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't" channel) will show up to watch, and comment! He's been doing a lot of episodes about desert plants and ecologies lately.

I've gotten to see lots of desert flowers in real life thanks to the Denver Botanical Gardens being near my home and my hikes more often than not taking place in very arid places. I'm glad someone's enthusiasm for plants made it on to film and into your archive! 🙂

Enjoyed this very much. I have been a landscaper most of my life and love my desert plants for their variety and ease. Thanks again,Fran

Fran, I can't thank you enough for presenting the educational short films. I have a collection myself but have limited sources. It's great to be able to view these. Thanks again.

    I read "flavoring dessert"!

I blame the fact that I'm hungry, dyslexic, and someone had the bad idea to try to teach me to speed read when I was little.

Interesting. I never saw a desert myself. Who knows what the future will bring us…

As I live in Arizona, I can relate to this… thanks, Fran!
