My edited and enhanced version of "The Relaxed Wife" - a 1957 Pfizer sponsored infomercial film that was made in Princeton NJ by Made On Film, Inc about dealing with stress. Basically, if the book doesn't work.. try our awesome drugs! Oh, Pfizer!
Created by Suzanne "Coni" Johnston, who wrote many screenplays for Made On Film and along with her husband Hugh, they made dozens of documentary films from the 1950's up through the 80's, but The Relaxed Wife remains Coni's most notable creation with its combination of surrealism, 1950's paranoia, a very animated acting performance, and interesting camerawork and cinematography.

ah yes, during the peak of ultra-unrelaxed prohibition of cannabis. they had to try to get creative because possessing a dried-up flower or nature's best relaxant was a crime, albeit, as always, a victimless crime.

"The film is a short version of a longer promotional production which described the benefits of Atarax, a tranquilizer that was marketed at the time."

    Ah, capitalism.

The twin beds was in the TV code back then in the 1950's and early 1960's. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were married in real life when they produced the "I Love Lucy " series under Desilu productons. They still had to do the antics and dialog from the twin beds on stage. When Lucy got pregnant with her first child, they wrote in the script that Lucy was "expecting" after confiding with a panel including 3 clergymen.

Are you telling me mind control predates social media and COVID vaccines? This was interesting, funny and disturbing, all at the same time. Thanks for this gem Fran.

The whole fly bit was so annoying. The sound was too loud, and lasted way longer than it should have. Did they even need to describe that in such detail anyway? I dont even know why, but I'm angry

Oh look! She has a bound murder podcast!

Seriously, I love seeing vintage films remastered in HD like this. After seeing so many bad transfers & worn out films over the years, seeing crystal clear video & the pop of the colors is just mesmerizing. (Love watching old Tom & Jerry cartoons in HD ๐Ÿ˜)
