What I'm getting from youtube is that only mindless channels that spew nothing but garbage and have millions of views are the ones that get play buttons.
Do interesting videos about science and behave like a cultured human being with class – no awards, no play buttons, no money.
Do fortnite videos, meme compilations, shout a lot and twerk at least once in a video – awards, money, play buttons, conventions, instant celebrity status.
That's youtube 2019.

in my opinion the chrome, silver or copper finishes need a nice thick layer of clear 3/4 coats minimum, a dark primer for chrome helps too copper works best with red oxide primer, but all need clear.
I love the new logo and the display box! Maybe another option would be to coat the 3D printed YouTube button with graphite or conductive paint and then brush plate it with copper then bright Nickel. Polishing after the copper plating would help in getting a mirror finish.
When using the chrome paint you need a gloss black behind it typically.
Congrats on the 100k Fran. You should ask you co-Project Egress friends to give YouTube a push to send you an official one… but honestly, when you get the “real” one you should just steal the button itself and put it in your version. It definitely has more love put into it than a mass produced version.
They say you should get an automatic notification when you're eligible. I didn't. I waited three months and I still did not get a notification so I had to reach out myself. From that point it took more than another month for them to make and ship it. I don't know why they changed it from not sending out notifications, but other than that the process is still the same, you have to give them your address and everything anyway, so you could just as well do that in the request stage. Considering how many tousands of these they send out each year I bet it cuts down their work a bit since many people never request an award. They don't do the glass fronted style any more though, which is a shame.
As for requirements, you cannot have any active copyright strikes. Old and dealt with copyright strikes do not count against you.
