Okay- we're up to part three of the nostalgia IT-12 Heathkit build and in this episode I go all-in with wiring and soldering the chassis. A few difficulties, not to mention a great deal of editing - I shot 5hrs of footage and spent a full day editing, so... Enjoy!

I am so freaking jealous that you got an unbuilt heathkit!!! I would die if I got one! I've been craving a good kit lately, and one of these beauties would seriously be the best thing in the world. Anybody got any good leads on decent kits around now days? Fairly complex ones? I'd appreciate it if you could link me to some if you know, thanks! 🙂

Sorry Fran — Was watching part two and jumped forward while you were talking about the boo boo with the recording issue. That was where I got to the part where you replaced the can electrolytic. The " keeping it real " ended. I would have went ahead and installed the can, and if it prove to be a problem later on, substitute then. It takes away from the whole idea of the age of the unit. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just how I feel.

I just found your channel, 4 years late to the game. your videos are great. I would have opened the CAP can and mounted the new caps on the base and mounted it per the instructions.

I have a bunch of these Heathkits I have bought that were already assembled and all of them look like the owners took their time to assemble. Great job and I love tubes and collect and build tube guitar amps for a hobby….fun to watch your video Fran!

Anyone who refurbishes old gear KNOWS that old electrolytics are guaranteed to die at the worst possible time in the worst possible way. You know the deal.

    Watched all 3 episodes.
I guess I like watching paint dry… lol
I do tend to get mesmerized by my FDM 3D printer and tend to watch the entire prints…
    I might be a weirdo… lol

Seriously…take your time. It's entertaining in a weird way. I feel like my friend and I are building stuff next to each other, except you're on the Youtubes! It's like those study videos on youtube.

Agreed.. if building a kit .. it’s (probably) a one time journey .. “experience” it …
