If your local multiplex seems to be projecting their movies super dim, then you might want to try what I did and get your money's worth! Enjoy!

We hope that after the next 3-D feature, they don't forget to re-remove the filter again.

YES!!…. My wife & I actually walked out of a showing of Solo because the picture was so dim, and exchanged our tickets for a different movie.  The following weekend, we saw Solo in an IMAX theater, and it was spectacular, with great picture and better sound.  For me, good sound is equally important as picture.  I'll remember this the next time I encounter an unusually dim showing…. unfortunately, the kids running the place are usually a bit dim too.

Yep, cinemas are generally very good, my local cinema has issued several complementary tickets for myself because of things like the film had pixels out and blurry as well as washed out from being over bright.

You complain properly and politely and you get better treatment.

Good catch! It doesn’t help that Solo was shot poorly. It looks super dark streaming it at home as well.

If you use coconut oil and pop WHITE popcorn (no tough hulls to get stuck in your teeth) in a Whirleypop popcorn popper with the heat at medium high (upper medium setting) and then follow up with powdered, butter flavored popcorn salt you will enjoy very tender, melt-in-your-mouth popcorn that looks, smells, and tastes just like the movie theater stuff at a fraction of the cost. Once I was able to conquer the popcorn part of movie watching (it isn't officially a movie without the popcorn), I now utilize my 65 inch, 4K UHD TV and my 7.1 channel surround sound system to enjoy movies with more comfort and enjoyment than at any corporate theater.

I really think this fix is worth more than a single pass… You mentioned multiple titles where the problem was observed. So, I would think a free pass is in order for each you had to watch at 50% brightness plus a several more for the head scratching you saved their technicians!

I don’t enjoy how movies are being presented these days. Many times they don’t resize the screen to fit the CinemaScope style films leaving the black bars on the top and bottom. I expect this at home due to my TVs screen shape. Since they went digital, the cinema has lost its magic for me. I miss the scratches and the pop between reels of film. Nowadays I feel like I’m watching a glorified Blu-ray. I have surround sound and a 4K tv. I can’t justify seeing a movie in a theatre anymore…
