Take a break. Sit down and relax to the soothing sound of my turn-of-the-century Seth Thomas 8-Day Schoolhouse wall clock. I'll tell you a little bit about it too. Enjoy!

I like those clocks. However, I want to ask, which gear in the time train turns the minute gear pinion?

My elementary school's (Lyman Trumbull in Chicago; now Chicago Waldorf School, Andersonville) classrooms all had these kinds of clocks. I used to love the tick-tock and the swinging pendulums when I was a kid. When the room was quiet, it often had a soothing effect. If we were taking a test, it reminded us that time was getting short. That wasn't very soothing, but it kept us on our toes. The school custodian made sure they were all wound during his usual rounds. I'm sure they're all gone by now; whoever got them got quite a collection of classic clocks.

Nice Seth Thomas! I recently received a Seth Thomas "Office No. 5" Gallery Clock with 12 inch with a Roman numerals dial that I’m going to state restoring. I know I need to replace the “TederToder” that broke. Should be interesting to find that original part.

Great Video of a Great Clockmaker. I have my Grandma's 2 Seth Thomas Mantle Clocks and my Uncles WWII Seth Thomas US Naval Submarine Wall Clock. I have no idea how to clean and lube them but they don't pay us broken firefighters enough to afford a Clock Shop, my local shop wants $100 to clean and lube just one. Have you done any Clock Maintenance Videos?
