You could have different colours for each number it you can get into it. Not sure there would be enough though, even if you include white.🌈

With all those IEE displays, you could really build a clock, every digit with another display 🙂

I know that some Versions of the CK-37 Mission Computer from the Swedish Fighter Jet Viggen used these kind of Displays to show information to the Pilot.

I remember these displays a lot from those days. As a graphic designer, I often wondered why they weren't used in "period' movies to better reflect the era. e.g. that Indiana Jones Crystal Skull movie debacle should have used these one-plane displays (or nixie tubes) instead of a too modern red LED display countdown clock that would hardly be period-realistic for the late 50s in which the movie was set!

I've been trying to figure out what these are called for a long time. One of our main computers in the control room of a nuclear plant where I used to work used this kind of display. It also had a dot matrix printer. The last time I saw it was around 1985, so it's been a while. Not being a computer or instrument person, I didn't know what they were. I'm glad I stumbled across this video. It explains it exactly in language that I can understand. Thanks for sharing!

I think these, or something very similar, were popular in elevators back a few decades.

This display was on Black/White TV in 1960/1970s speed skatng events.
