In this vlog I do a cool project to show how you can create advanced display drivers using diode steering. I build a 555 timer clock to control a 4017B decade counter as a start, build a couple of simple display boards, and also get to use some of my cool vintage parts for an advanced discrete DTL 7-segment driver. Check out the details and schematics on my science and engineering blog to build your own project -

Beautiful, I make one of these diode logic matrix for drive a General Instrument MAN6730 display, that can display any numbers from "0" to the "15", but instead of single transistors I used an IC to drive the segments…
Greetings from Brazil!!!
I gave this a go a few years back. On a much simpler scale.
A 555 timer to produce a clock signal, and a 4017 decade counter. The outputs were 'diode-steered' to three LED's to make a traffic light effect.
I didn't even know that diode steering was a thing until I saw this video. I just assumed that I made the worlds most inefficient use of diodes 😀
Nice diode ROM 🙂
That’s how EPROMs work
I'm making the rules, it's mine. LOVE IT !!!!!
Fran than you so much… i learn so much from you
Very interesting
Excellent. Thank you, Fran. ✌🏻
Regarding the diode reversed current direction symbol, I remember, early Japanese electronic products, like 6 transistors AM pocket receivers and other, have had a minus on common ground rail and were using PNP transistors. Rule which follows the natural current flow direction.
Impresive original and simple solution…
