Switched On Apollo! This 16mm film from my collection has lost all its blue, but none of its charm. Great shots all through this film about the flight of Apollo 10 - but also lots of behind the scenes of the Apollo 11 crew training for their flight at the same time. Added bonus (for me anyway) is that the music in this film was conducted by Wendy Carlos with live orchestra, but sadly even after uploading 7 different edited versions YouTube has flagged it all, so I had to process all of the music out. As usual I transferred this film with my own Telecine and did my best to get the red out. Enjoy!

Love this!! The corrections are really clean, doesn’t change the vibe at all but adds the clarity. 👍
you re right , the blue color is gone from the film
Thanks Fran
Awesome! Thanks far sharing this one, what a gem. I met Gene, and you could instantly tell that he had the Right Stuff.
Being born in 1965 I still get so emotional with anything space related and Apollo especially. Thanks for sharing these wonderful videos!
I distinctly recall seeing part of the Apollo 10 mission in elementary school, probably first grade. We were told that it was "historic", but I wasn't very impressed at the time (the Snoopy and Charlie Brown mascots were cool though).
The first little bit reminds me of Boards of Canada : Geogaddi : Dandelion
Number nine, number nine …
any info on who arranged and composed the music? thanks for this it's fantastic
What a fantastic film! Even though you had to scramble the music. I only recently discovered Wendy Carlos through Look Mum No Computer and since then I have been buying as many of her old albums as I can find.
Thank you for uploading this. No thanks to YouTube for being jerks about it.
I turned 8 in 1969. Thanks to real space (Project Apollo) and fictional space (Star Trek) I chose the STEM career path that has served me so well.
This is lovely, thank you Fran!
It's kind of sad they did not print this on LLP.
Now ….. Can someone answer me this. When I was a kid in school, our teacher that year told us that the musical backing track was played in reverse – Is that true? Just listening to this, some of the music does sound "backwards" and at other times it sounds quite normal (forward) playing. At other times I hear what sounds like part of the music is backwards, and some of it forwards at the same time, like a composite track.
Just exactly what was the story with the interesting, but weird sounding, backing track?
Why Fran didn't you correct the color in the film first before uploading to YouTube. The color has faded badly, why would anyone want to see that. Why was the music track in reverse!
I watched from the earth to the moon and this add to the experience, the apollo program was a good goal and they did achieve it without too many bad situations. Whatever they encountered they handled it good and moved on.
I knew that apollo 11 was somewhat hit by bad luck but the apollo 10 seems to have got all the luck.
I saw this in school….glad to see it again. I really appreciate you giving all these old films a second life.
Thanks for your editing efforts to the original film. Nice trip down memory lane. Cheers.
