Another 16mm reel from my collection that is a moment in time - this time being 1971 - and definitely the kind of film I would have seen in elementary school back in the day. As always I transferred this film with my own Telecine and corrected color to taste. Enjoy!

This old video points out what is missing from most young people today…Curiousity!
Fran. I come back to your channel to replant my roots whare they should be. I may be a little out of touch with you. I was a fan five or six years ago. I would love to get your read on the current goings on in the US… Even Philly. Your old school demos in electronics bring me back to my roots. Your scientific approach to problems and projects have interested me to no end. That Appollo display recreation. It's gold! I have tried to stay with the changes in culture as a religious person too. I believe there are people born into the wrong bodies like you. What is happening today takes away from your uniqueness and I have a hard time with that. Maybe a video with your point of view (if you haven't made it) will help. I can't be the only one with these questions.
Oh, those rambunctious rapscallions.
Can you explain why do you upload in 30p instead of 24p? Does this not work well when capturing with a camcorder? On another hand, why not 60p? If I understand correctly, five-blade projector was meant for converting to 30 fps interlaced video, which is equivalent to 60 fps progressive. 60p should be cleaner with less ghosting. Am I not getting something?
Brings back memories of being taught to use one of my elderly relatives' reading magnifier as a burning glass. I can even remember the day. Watching the kids in the video (who are just three or four years older than me), I was rooting for them to take their mirrors and form some sort of Archimedean death ray. Wonderful little educational piece.
Brings me back to the third grade. I must have missed it. When are you going to replay Ichabod Crane? Love that headless horseman!
Would the color correction benefit from a larger dynamic range (more bits per channel) during the digitalization step? I am impressed that you can recover even the faintest remnants of blue!
The whole thing looks like a Boards of Canada video, who of course are named after the National Film Board of Canada who made films like this.
You're getting really good at extracting color out of those faded prints!
This is great all around, the camera work, the sound
Remember when you could stop over at your friend's house unannounced, run around town or ride bikes and explore all day? Now it's "play dates", bubblewrap and fear of getting kidnapped or sued.
Somebody call Vinny to take out that flutist.
I remember when I was 8, using a mirror to reflect light into a house across the road, so I could see what their rooms were like. I'd probably get arrested for that today, and put on a list 😄
The audio on this film really is something special.
Thanks for posting that uncorrected clip at the end!!!! I loved watching this whole thing and am going to go check out the others like it that you’ve posted. Very cool.
Thanks for preserving this, Fran.
So reflecting is the bumpers. That much I’m sure of….
