Thanks to the generosity of Gerry Moersdorf the Burroughs B-7971 Alphanumeric Nixie Tube is put on display and made to to a dance or two with an ATmega328P microcontroller and a custom high voltage interface. A nice little project and a cool bigass tube! Enjoy...

Oh man, I had three sets (6 tubes, three boards) about 7 years ago, but we had to severely downsize so I sold them on eBay. I wish I had been following you on YouTube back then; I would have been glad to send them to you. Aw well, c'est la vie.

Holy Samolians! Ebay wants $150.00 each for these! Imagine getting a bad one like Fran did. Glad I bought mine in the '70s from PolyPaks for $1.00 per 2 in the driver board. I un-hoardered them from my stash last weekend. I may make one of these. Thanks, Fran, for the inspiration. (But… the Samolians look really good with Christmas coming =/ )

    Why did you make the "5" the same as the "S", instead the Burroughs recommended form of the "5"? (The Burroughs "5" uses segments A, D, F, G and L)(The "S" uses A, C, D, F, G and H)

I think we could actually remove the grid if we use the backing plate as an electrode.

"Where's that thing?" I am, no doubt, the only guy with this problem, but I find myself scrolling down while watching so that I am not distracted by Fran being her stunning Fran-ness. Anyway, she is the most interesting and "how it's done" pedal tutor I've come across.

<—does a lot of wiring at work (mainly tying sensors into junction boxes)

…my brain esploded all over the place watching this! ^_^

Nixie tubes are so fascinating for some reason. I finally bought an in-12 kit from Ebay via Ukraine to the states. It only took about a week to come to the east coast

I own a Sony Sobax 500 calculator. I saved it from getting thrown out at my old company. They just thought it was an old piece of junk. And it works perfectly. Of course it is Nixie tube.
