I wish - and hope that this can happen - but I will not be holding my breath. For so many decades the Live-Work was the backbone of American innovation and craft - and with all of that space being eradicated in favor of high cost upscale housing and storefront properties, how can people be surprised that we just don't make things anymore. Whatever the big company you want to name, it began in a live-work space. Where do the companies of the future come from? Don't worry - it will all be built virtually in the cloud. Enjoy!

BTW, I "livework" in a basement – tons of space that gets flooded occasionally.
Near Fresno, Ca, they let a guy "livework" at the TV transmitter site. It worked fine until he left a cigarette lit somewhere and it burnt down the whole building.
As a carpenter for more than 30 years…I have moved out. Much more relaxing, make my customers come to me or request they pay my travel time with decent results.
hey Fran…UH,.far being from me..Jeff Beck died last week…you are a guitar player,,how about a little tribute to JB…huh?..the man was a monster
It's all part of the great reset
I never have been able to make high overhead work for me. Zoning and housing slowly extinguishes the human spirit. People are forced to go further rural.
The irony is that many people move into what are called "arts districts" because they want to be around artists and similar creators. So many then move in that the rents start to sky-rocket. The outrageous rents are then too high for the artists to afford and they move out to cheaper areas. The gentrification thus destroys the arts community in that area.
Fran, you are such an INSPIRATION to me. I'm a loner too, and do everything myself. โค๏ธ you!
You had me at affordableโฆ
Great job. You are learning much faster than I did, though I learned in the early/mid 90's when all you had were instructional books or expensive guitar lessons. Keep going!!! ๐ค๐ปโบ๏ธ
Great video. I did just this in the 90's. I had a 6,000sq/ft flat that had no interior walls. It was amazing, but in a real bad area of the city. Good times.
โคFran!
Small town America needs live/ work groups to come and buy up these beautiful old buildings on Main Street! Come on Climate Refugees! Check out Southern Michigan, or the PA NY border townsโฆ Zillow tells all! Prices will dive in the next year?
The property market is finally cooling down a bit. The last 5 years were insanity
The lack of reasonable living spaces, much less live work spaces, in the US is horrific and bizarre
