Clocks are fun builds, and you too can make your own accurate clock just using the line frequency from the power supply. In this vlog I show just one way of doing it, but be creative and make your own AC synchronous clock!

I tried looking for a circuit like this on line and most people are using a micro controller to take care of the timing conversion and I didnโt want to do that ๐ then I remembered this video about a nimo tube ๐ค and she did what I wanted ๐๐ thanks for this video it has more uses than what you used it for ๐
I employed that approach in the design of the "kilnminder" back in the 1980s.
I have been really enjoying your videos about numeric displays and cmos logic gates, and that awesome diode steering. Thank you very much! Awesome stuff.
Love you,r video,s! I learn so much!
we need to get you more nimo tubes, just to give you the full 4 digit time display
Very cute Fran! Love from Australia….
I've watched so many of your videos that I would recognize them if you just sat looking at the camera and blinked.ย I built a 6 digit, 24hrย clock from discrete components (mostly 74xx components) and usedย the 4017 chips as divide by 10.ย I used a 10MHz crystalย clock using a 7400ย that I wouldย zero beatย with WWV at 10MHz and seven 4017 chips to produce the 1Hz pulse.ย Is that geek or what?ย Problem was that the entire assembly drew just over two amps because I didn't mux the digits so they were all on all of the timeย but it was VERY accurate.ย It would lose/gain a second over a period of four or five months.ย ย I could probably have used one of the stages from the 4017 cascade divider and driver transistors to mux the output but having RF square waves I had to shield the oscillator and divider stages in a little copper box.
Intro shmintro(8-). I came for the meat of the matter. And here you are building solid state clocks while I'm
over here tryin' to limber up an old Telchron movement in an old tube type clock radio(8-). Ever have any
experience messin' with the old TelChron or Sessions movements, Fran?
That is for sure museum worthy
Not to put too fine a point on this, but your intro sounds creepy to a lot of people.
But fight for it if you must, it's your channel, not your viewers'.
Your intros what brightens my day, and then remainder of video educates me.
The intro itself was enough to make me subscribe. Why do millions flock to watch garbage when Fran's around. It's bananas!
