Finally - the epic story can be told! From my break-out video showing the very first demonstration of an operational NIMO tube on YouTube in 2017, to completing my discrete NIMO clock, to getting different types of NIMO tubes and demonstrating a few one-of-a-kind prototype NIMO's in 2021, and finishing off with a comprehensive history of the unusual and fascinating origins of the NIMO and the Philly connection to how it got it's name. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Putting the transistor grid bias buffer driver is still a good idea, as it buffers the 74 logic ic under fault conditions….
Regarding the blurriness of the NIMO image, I was thinking it was caused by the geometry of the electron beam thru the 'mask' that is in the cathode section of the tube, similar to the way you get multiple shadows from multiple sources of light.
NIMO tubes are certainly an engineering marvel, but from a marketing perspective they were a colossal failure because 7-segment LEDs were hitting the market at the same time. Too bad they weren't available in the 1950's. IEE boasted about power-savings with NIMO, but I'm not convinced there was any significant advantage over nixies because NIMOs require a high-voltage supply.
99 comments and it needs just one ! (:D Merry christmax) If you havven good knowledge, make a vid then, sun !
Awesome video as always Ms Fran. Always look forward to your videos.
Thanks for sharing your information on a classic old tube. ๐
muito bom
For the First time , for me.
I appreciate to you.
If I had 3 Nimo tubes I'd build a 3-digit clock!
I believe I have seen this as a floor indicator in an elevator! It was special that there was only one number that changed rather than a row of illuminated numbers. It had the same green glow as the magic eye on an really old radio tuner

Hello I also have a NIMMO tube in my collection. I saw that you printed the version yourself. I have a lovely question for you. could you send me the STL print files? Greetings Ingmar
I am not sure you are the first. But it's awesome tube regardless.
