RE: "The acorn that will grow a great oak?" My grandfather told me he always kept an acorn in Ford Model A he once had. He described that it had an option that was a pulley attached to the outside of one of the rear wheels. "What for, grandad?" He said you could attach a rope to the pulley and then to a tree and you could winch the car out of mud or similar trouble. "But what's the acorn for, grandad?". Well, it seems there may not always be a tree nearby.

It's a year later (and you're stuck in the Laboratory), and I wanted to echo other comments – you lost subscribers because you posted videos in the channel which aren't actually part of the theme. I'll admit that I get irritated when the few channels I subscribe to jump to something radically different. You're a technical channel – travelogues don't fit 🙂
Just start another channel just for those, and monetize them 🙂
All you can do is take one day at a time, your content is great, I will endeavour to share it more within an Engineers group I am in.

Do fun stuff and enjoy yourself. That's what I love watching. You seem to automatically dig into any subject and it's fun and interesting and I learn stuff. Do that and u win. BTW, youtube DID suggest this to me tonight!
