On the education thing. I only made it to associate degree in computer science and found a job so quit college. Every once in a while it haunts me. One company wouldn't even interview because I didn't have a bachelors. So 2 more years of college is better than my 22 yrs of REAL LIFE experience? Some companies are stupid.
I live in small town in the country but drive 60 minutes to downtown pittsburgh for work every day in software development. In both places a person is a person to me. Last couple years got really into electronics as a hobby. Between you, Dave Jones, and few others I've learned a lot quickly. Thank you guys! My first computer was a C64 too at about 12 years old. I got it to play games but liked programming it more.

Fran, I am very happy that I joined your channel today!
Ciao
Stay weird. Love your channel
Nice.
Didnt catch your live stream, question about the USB HDDs behind you. What's your opinion on the using a USB A connector at both ends.
I see you have the new Logitech keyboard. I love mine.
Notice for live chat, just came through, 11 hrs late!
As far as kits, you are dead on. I bought an Arduino starter kit a couple months ago (and am slowly learning how to code for it). The profit margin had to be abysmal. After maintaining inventory, actually packaging the sub bags in it, putting it together and verifying everything that is supposed to be there is there, taking the orders, packaging, and shipping, there can't be much meat left on the bone.
I've seen channels that basically show making an item and then you buy the plans to make one yourself with the videos as a guide and some level of support if you get really stuck. That's great if the thing you're building means you'd reasonably have the tools and skills to build it. If you need a machining vice, you probably have or have access to a milling machine and likely a lathe or you wouldn't really need the vice in the first place. Somebody wanting a guitar pedal may well not have ever touched a soldering iron much less know how to read a schematic.
electrocute (v.)
"execute by electricity," 1889, American English, from electro- + back half of execute. The method first was used Aug. 6, 1890, in New York state, on William Kemmler, convicted of the murder of his common-law wife.
Language changes over time, however, so now people use it for just getting a shock. Which grates on these ears, but what can you do?
