Love the witty intro between cameras. 😆
I was once in the lab testing a bunch of prototype dosimeters, when in comes the president of the company checking up on my progress. He had just gotten back from a hospital after having a cat scan. Anyhow, as he approached my bench, I noticed that all of the dosimeters signal strength LED bars were suddenly moving from green, up to yellow, then up to red, and then the alarms went off on all of the dosimeters. I had no idea that after a cat scan you become a walking radiation source for a while. Then at another date, we had visitors who were interested in our dosimeters. One guys watch was not working on that day, and so in the morning he put on an old watch of his that was from way back when. This was one of those old watches where the hands glow in the dark. Well his old watch set off the alarms in all of the dosimeters. He was shocked. I wish I had a geiger counter like yours these days too.
A project I'm currently working on is interfacing the lens assembly from an 80's Sony professional studio cam (NTSC 3 vidicon – can be found relatively cheap these days) to a modern HD web cam – the thought being that the limitation of the web cam is it's optics, and the limitation of the old studio cam the obsolete format itself. Hoping that melding the best of both worlds will produce a really useful camera. We'll see.
You do est bismuth when you drink pepto!
I think Bismuth is actually an Alpha emitter, not Beta.
Glorious FranVision!
if I didn't know better , that long sleeve shirt covers up all of Frans motorcycle gang, drinking and fighting flaming skull & USMC tattoos . she looks so innocent in this.
Fran, you look even more beautiful and sexy on the new camera
You might want to work on the uhms and ughs.
Fantastic video Fran – you always cover such unusual subjects and your Lab is a treasure cave of interesting stuff. Added to which you are (please excuse my sexism, it's meant with deep respect) the CUTEST Geek on the planet!
Love the new view Fran.
Hi Fran!
That timely camera malfunction is a result of "lens envy." Cameras just know when they're being replaced 😉
Commodore 64 and 5 1/4 inch floppies in the background 🙂
New camera video certainly looks better 😉
Looking forward to the Geiger counter tear down.
Image looks great, good to see your face again as I've not used YouTube for a while.
