I've been wanting to do this video for a long time.... Just how did they manage to get those spectacular shots of the stage separations of Saturn rockets? Many have asked over the years, so this one is by special request for all of you who have wondered about just that. OH - and hang on till the end to see the jaw-dropping unedited footage. Enjoy!

Great story, excellent footage, great narration!!! Superb!!! Thanks Fran!
A new generation was created for NASA? Or a different process was made for national security reasons…
I've always wanted to see an Atlas staging! Info sources always mention the half-staging setup but never go into detail.
I heard they keep the stages together during launch and transit with explodable bolts. They separate in stages by the effect of the exploding of the bolts. A thing that has to hold so tight, and then let go forever.
So nice to see how the hull retains orientation in the initial jettisons. Reaaaly smooth
What no copyright music? LOL Must be from the Fran Archives! It's amazing those pods made it through re-entry.
I wonder what would've happened if one of the mortars had fired prematurely and ejected that heavy film pod … a catastrophic launch failure?
They put that on 70mm film?? Whoa
Simply stunning, Fran. Love this and all the lab stuff you do. Thanks!
Awesome
Defending the narrative. Protecting Communism ♥
This is brilliant stuff!! we don’t usually get to see full length clips like this. Wonder if this is what inspired the shot where C3PO and R2D2 escape to Tatooine?
I have always been amazed and the quality of these films! Seems to put any modern video to shame!
DAMN, but… Fran.- that new track you've used to score this is RAVISHING
I've probably seen those clips in one form or fashion many times over the years, and it's still amazing. IIRC, SpaceX borrowed this page from the NASA playbook to get the fairing separation video angles. They had the advantage of a 21st-century GoPro, though. I'm astounded they were able to achieve this level of clarity with film!
I love the music these awe inspiring clips are set to, it seems so ethereal and perfect. I check the artist, of course it's fantastic Fran! Thank you for making these available to us in such a great way. I learned a lot!
i bet there was cameras
Great music behind the archive clips!
In some of the shots there lights and a red one at the bottom does anyone know why
