I was there about 10 years ago doing a video for the DoD. It was rather interesting to be there, just the 2 of us in what was once of the most imortant places in the world and the whole world watching! I actually tried to look behind the screens but the doors were locked. By then I'm assuming they had gone to giant LED screens but I always wanted to know!
This reminds me that a few years ago a seller on eBay was hawking what they said was one of the large black message/timer boxes from the site. Side-by-side with control room photos, it looked like the real thing. I wish I remember more details, but I think the asking price was a mere $17,999!
Amazing…I always wondered how that worked
You know so many things amazing
You are so clever & knowable about how things work
Fascinating –
Thank you so much! I am a big Apollo fan and this is one of the things I have wondered about literally every time I've seen it. I knew it had to be mechanical because of the era it was created (my era too… I was born in 1960) but now I really know how it worked. Thank you again. 👍
great item!! thx
Fran. Do you know about the Bat Cave at DRL?
I have always wondered how they did those! That and the giant live video screens at Freddie Mercury daytime shows. Is that the same tech as that fridge sized projector?
Fran, you are Amazing!
Thank you! I always asked myself how this was accomplished and this is far more awesome than i thought.
