One of many custom made tools I need to make for producing a working reproduction for the DSKY electroluminescent display. 3D printing combined with woodworking? Yep!

Hi Fran, just watched this video after watching your announcement today about stopping this project. Did you ever screen print with this jig? I think you made it an awesome jig very well thought through. Also watched Ben's video and read a lot of comments. I would very much like to see what your version of this DSKY unit would be! Why would it matter he finished one before you? You have so many talents and I think many of us would like to see you continue this project. Keep it up!

Awesome research and work. How is this coming along?

That is friggin' genius! (Pardon my censorship). 😉
You think like I do (or Vice/Versa). You have a task to accomplish, you "build" the device to accomplish that task in your mind and then you make it. The adjustment design is so innovative. I am very impressed.

I like the technique you have shared with us where you drill part way through the material and flip it and finish the drilling from the opposite side to eliminate a nasty burr. Thanks Fran!! You do awesome precision work.

How do you make the digital display physically fit and work? Are you using the EL material for that display? If so, how do you get the actual digits to animate/change appearance?

Really great project. Keep it up!

If you ever want to standardise the hand cut glass, borrow machinist philosophy (it's that parallelism and perpendicularity that they love) and use diamond. Diamond laps or files; they come in a range of grits even down to the micron scale as a lapping paste if you feel like getting obsessive.

Cool project! I was a textile silk screener for many years so this was familiar territory. Can't wait to the the next step. Will you print the registration marks on the piece itself?

Awesome project. Really appreciate the attention to detail. I see you're drilling lots of thin materials. Using a step drill for thin materials, you'll avoid the violent breakthrough. Plus, it will chamfer the hole.

Trivia for those playing at home – the aluminum knobs I use for the holddown screws are NOS Hep Cat knobs from 1994. Functional and alluring!
