A strange 16mm film from my collection that tells the story of the NASA Orbiting Solar Observatory through an Egyptian idol imbued with the spirit of Ra, who ultimately cares less about the satellite than he does getting some hot chicks to worship him. Ain't that the truth?! As usual I transferred this reel with my own Telecine and did my best to restore the lost color. Enjoy!

Cool. Never saw the the mechanics of that satellite.
Fabulous! Thoroughly enjoyed this, plus being British myself, I approve of the Received Pronunciation! Another small gift for you, Fran. As I previously stated: I will continue to donate to you, as and when I can. 🇬🇧
YAY, Movie…!!!!……
isn't the sun made of liquid metallic hydrogen…PM robitaille.
Again, thanks for giving these old films a second life, and a chance for others to see and appreciate them…
Very cool to see these older images! Thanks, Fran!
Very cool. This was something JFK would have found fascinating.
In 1969, NASA took hundreds of pictures and transmitted live television from the moon 🫤
When Professor Ra started speaking, I was expecting him to say, "That's quite an assignment, Dave", followed by a close-up of his headress glowing red…
This is amazing. Thank you again for sharing such fantastic historical ephemera
It's very telling that the only female depicted is the temple maiden.
Such paternalistic tendencies would hopefully no longer be able to make it into a modern presentation.
