I suddenly feel like listening to Doctor and the Medics song Spirit in the Sky!
My observation on the disk half black with the line is the lines seem to rotate at different directions.
I know what I want now…
I want a pair of those giant Ray Ban-like vintage sunglasses… But with counter rotating Optical Discs in each lense.
I'm pretty sure I could HIP MOE TIZE just about anyone then.
Or at least make 'em really dizzy 😁
Dont forget random dot stereograms! Great stuff! Thanks!
If you watch closely when Fran is playing with the polarizer disk at the end, you can see the bag of diffusers in the box start changing how they look. Dark spots start appearing and disappearing, and lines move and disappear. You should play with that one again please Fran! :edited for spelling
I was watching the double spiral while I had some text open on my lap. Looked from the wheel to the text. OMG.
I see colors!
Double spiral reminds me of the old Vertigo Records logo that also has an offset center creating the depth illusion too.
The freakiest optical illusion I've experienced happened accidentally. I was playing a platformer video game set in a circular world, so that the floor was curved slightly downward everywhere. When I looked away after playing for an hour or so, horizontal lines all looked like they were curved upward! I guess my brain had temporarily redefined its notion of horizontalness.
cool stuff. In the late 1950s or early 1960s, the local Cleveland affiliate of one of the big 3 networks did a live broadcast test of a system which attempted to reproduce a color image using different flash rates similar to the wheels you were demonstrating. It didn't work worth a damn. lol!
I just love these optical brain FURBARs 🙂
Awesome 🌀😳🌀 thank you Fran
There is a dimension beyond time and space… and you will send all of your money to Franlab there.
A couple of those would be bad for someone on acid to watch. I wouldn't know personally but they freaked me out and I'm not on anything. BTW – I never saw any color with any of them.
