Failure is not an option! Franquility base here - my latch is complete! Thanks to Scott Kip for all the great advice and helping me realize this project. Thanks also to Andrew Barth and Jen Schachter at Savage Industries for bringing me on board Project Egress. I love a good challenge, and this was one for the books.

Very cool! You definitely should be proud of this, and I will have to look up the Team Savage thing this was for!
Totally awesome piece of art+science+passion+craft+history
one expensive latch 😉
Super! I enjoyed how you contextualizing the process and what it meant to you. Thank you.
wow, wow and a bit more wow !
You just rule Fran!
Nice to see you upbeat instead of stressed out.. I like the quote at the end of the credits.. Most of us have probably used just about every tool as a hammer at some point (even if we really shouldn't..).
Beautiful work from a beautiful person.
Beautiful, just like the maker.
The F1 engines are much the same as that latch. We have the documentation, but it isn't complete/exact. Each F1 engine was a custom build to make all the parts fit and work. So you got the same joys as the builders of the F1.
Nice one Fran – that's a thing of beauty. Lovely to have used walnut – a nice wood to work with and looks fab
Very nice piece, you’re very skilled. This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen. I did see that Diresta made the two hinges for the hatch out of walnut and brass, did you two collaborate or exchange ideas before hand?
Nicely done! And a cool project to be a part of i'am sure.
wow beautiful . this . is . beautiful
