In part three I am in the thick of it and getting exhausted. It took about a week in for me to find my second wind, and this particular vlog definitely was recorded around that point where I was running on fumes. But in a couple days after this I would begin to see more light, even as the end of the tunnel seemed to drift further away. This was not going to be a quickly finished project. This was going to take all the stamina and resolve that I could muster.

Keep it up Fran. Great that you show us these difficult times during a project. I know them well.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jonsey says:

Awsome thought processing Fran, thanks for letting us peek. Get some rest please.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joel Murphy says:

    beautiful !!
perhaps when you do this again, you can set up two parts in view of the origin and hedge your bets

How far is the Phactory from the Lab? For some reason, I thought they were in the same building,

Yes, your best is all you can do but build in some break time.
I too prefer the electronics, but it is important that you do all the projects that you want to. Whatever you do it will not affect my subscription or Patronage, unless you do something drastic like eating babies or supporting Trump!

    You got this!

If you're interested in feedback about how to present this kind of info, I really enjoy seeing people do a thing, then show us a problem they ran into, then show how it was solved. That's the most important thing to me in watching videos like this. Helps me learn a lot.

Excuse me, I don't understand. Wrong material, wrong tool! As a diy project, I had chosen lost PLA casting in brass or some good aluminum alloy.

Take it from a machinist; breathers help. Take a few.

    show us the milling!

NOT boring! Just do what you do. I think you may end up gaining subscribers who haven't found you through “electronics” videos. Heck, I found you through a rant and am so glad I did. I find all your stuff interesting. Museums, electronics, pencils, it's all fun. You're very cool.

Sorry Fran……..but I do like puling things apart and see how they work

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Arne Saknussemm says:

I agree with what you said, Fran, there's no point in making hours of time-consuming video that just shows you shoving the Shaper Origin around. Wait until you have parts to show.

Deadlines can be very draining and stressful, especially when you're learning how to do things as you go. I'm currently working on a project that has taken me four (or is it five) attempts to get the part design to where I want it as I learn. My advice is just "do the next thing". If you try to look too far ahead into a project with too many problems or unknowns it seems like an impossible task. Conversely, if you just "do the next thing" the next step after that is perfectly obvious once you get there.

I'm pretty new at this, but bringing over five decades of life experience along with me means that I have the ability to make good decisions, once the problem becomes more clear. You have a similar range of experience to draw on – you just need to trust that and have faith in yourself.

You'll do it, I know you can. Those guys in Apollo 13 were tired also..

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jlucasound says:

Don't get foggy. Take your breaks. If you don't feel you are in the zone, go outside and take a deep breath. Like you said, take a walk. Always be relaxed. You will do it. You know how to do it. You will prevail. Remember the days of playing in a band.
