Okay - First off... I ate a lot of pie today and I just watched Frozen again last night. But I set out on a holiday journey to assemble a new-in-box Heathkit IT-12 signal tracer from 1973 that was donated by loyal FranLab viewer Kitt Thompson. This will be a multi-parter for sure. Enjoy!

My first Heathkit is in the mail … a signal tracer SG-8 …
Interesting project sir.
That brings back fond memories for me. I built a Heathkit GR-64 shortwave radio way back in the early 60's. I still have it today but unfortunately it's no longer working.
Great video, will be waiting for part two. My first Heathkit was a time machine. I built it, and of course, it didn't work….
😍
Wow!!!
Yeah my old click click from the mid 70's is also original, just a number of new tips. Good old Weller never dies.
Fran I am sure in 4 years someone has recommended
Tarnex.
Vintage dust is valuable too just don't sneeze😆
You're so funny I hope to see more of your heath kit builds, if you have more. My father was a radio engineer in the '50s '60s and '70s and he started working for showbiz Pizza after his switch to digital electronics. But he would appreciate I think one of these videos.
Edit for pacing.
You kept me company, on & off for the last few hours. I've been sitting rebuilding a quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor off of my 1967 RS Camaro convertible. It's kind of like the way have the radio on in the back ground if you're not making a YouTube video.🙂
