Oh... so much agony! It's not quite a done deal yet as there are still problems to work out, but basically these past two weeks condense into this neat little 30 minute video. I've edited out the screaming and smashing things, but mostly this is the result. I'll follow up with a supplemental video about making the vent hood. Enjoy!

I just bought a MakerGear M3. If plug/play connection is on one end of the spectrum, the MakerGear method of connection is on the opposite end.
if you slice in octoprint will it complete the print? I can not get a print to complete. if so what are the settings you use?
This green HP laptop model has notoriously terrible WiFi performance. FYI.
Totally agree with rant on cloud and licence subscriptions. Fuck that shit!
I'm Rick the founder at MakerGear and I just saw this video and would like to point out a few things. About 20 minutes into the video there is a discussion of having trouble connecting over WIFI. If you don't want to use WIFI there is an Ethernet port on the printer that is setup and ready to go. WIFI is not required. I don't know why Ethernet was not used in this video.
Additionally, nothing on M3 (or any MakerGear printer) is Cloud-based. All of the software is local and the only thing the printer is doing online is checking for software updates. While we include a Simplify3D license with the M3-ID, you can use the slicer of your choice.
People can't do anything without a cell now. I was surprised to watch an episode of the doctors talking about kids with smart phones not handling well these days. Then at the end of the show they were showing drink bottles that connected to a cell phone!
HI Fran, so how is the M3-ID working out for you. I am looking into it and wanted to see what feedback you have since you received it.
This is why I refuse to use fusion360's disfunctional software
Give me hardwired any day! Who doesn't like reliable? The โyoung people of todayโ either haven't noticed or just don't understand the difference. I won't even give up my landline phone for my cellphone's awful sound quality, connection issues, etc.
The M3 is the most efficient and reliable 3D printer I have ever owned. Its a shame you are having these issues, because once up and running it is a game changer. Imagine logging over THOUSANDS of hours of printing over the course of a year and NEVER having to relevel your bed and RARELY ever having a failed print.
Good day to you Fran, love your work.
Must be Nice
fran I am 33 and I have a complicated network setup you usually only find in businesses. How many people have cisco soho router and a dell server.
So I don't mind having to mess with networks and having to jump through hoops but I totally agree with you about the cloud.
IGNORE ppl who call you an old fart. They're just a victim of marketing wank.
