This 16mm film was produced by NASA and highlights the mission of Skylab 4, which was the third and last crewed mission. This reel has turned mostly pink and the transfer was done with my own Eiki Telecine with some necessary color correction. Enjoy!

They talk about the comet Kohoutek too. I remember being really excited about it, I was trying to look for it in the sky in my school yard, my friends thought I was crazy!
This is great! Thanks Fran! I was following all things Skylab back in '74 ( I was 10 years old then).
This was filmed in my first year of junior high school..
It's great that you're putting these old films out on the internets for all to see.
Sadly, we really haven't done much in space for almost a half century, but I'm the upside, we're getting back into space like we mean it…
When we learned Skylab was falling I thought it was appropriate for me to paint SKYLAB on the sides, roof, hood, and trunk of my '71 Chevy VEGA. Like the anticipated falling Skylab my Vega was going to crash soon. It was a great sight gag. When MY Skylab finally gave up the ghost I imagined it was much like going over Niagara Falls in a barrel, except with a LOT more sparks.
those guys are 37 and 41? christ…. i'm 46 and those guys look older than me….
Awesome. Thanks for preserving/sharing this.
When I was a little kid during the Skylab years I had a pop-up book about it, all diagrams and pictures. It was my favorite thing. Probably worth money now if it was still around. I also remember being terrified that when it came back to Earth it would crash into my grandparents' house.
I was a weirdo.
Excellent sound quality.
Wow Fran, great content in this video!
I never saw it before. Thanks for making it available.
It's a shame that documentaries like this are hardly ever shown to the public. The only stuff channels generally show is astronauts playfully tumbling through space in weightlessness…
Excellent content in that film. It's great that it is being preserved. Cheers.
