My thanks to Starfleet for offering up this super cool 21st Century Retro Earth issue communicator for us to open up and take an in-depth look at the amazing pseudo tech inside. Enjoy!

Too much to say. As for your channel, got hooked with your led collection. And Mr. Shatner goes to space. Who would have thought.
Classic Fran what a great review. I don't know how Dr Who's Sonic screwdriver would cope with Starfleet technology but worth a try.
Ngl, didn't love the shtick. But it's well-received overall, and you seemed to have fun with it, so mark it a W.
I wouldn't dare teardown the klingon communicator. You know what they say in Q'onos "every tool is a grenade".
Love it also a massive trekie like you, So looking forward to the next season of Piccard because Q right.
Been a fan of yours since I found your channel IDK a few years ago, Looked you up found out all your past struggles and I'm still coming back to watch you have electronics fun here, You should host a discord server, I reckon it would be fun to chat as a community. One way or the other you inspire people like me to keep tinkering, electronics are fun.
It's amazing how Fran can speak so well with her tongue thoroughly stuck in her cheek throughout this video. 😉
I still have a Starfleet Technical Manual from the 20th century that shows how to make one of these using 20th centuries parts, LOL.
I was only talking to my partner yesterday about the time I bought one of these at a convention in the mid-'90s, and look what YouTube suggested to me today. Creepy. My Home Hub must have been listening.
haha Fran geeking away like there is no tomorrow … which it apparently is, or else the future has a lot of explaining to do now when this video is leaked …
So well made and put together. I have quite a few devices that use those helical torsion fixtures, quite popular back in the day.
Clever… 😊 I used to have Star Trek communicator walk-talkies when I was a kid in the 70. Wish I still had them today.
With the amount of attention to detail that went into this communicator, it would have been nice if they made it into a functional cell phone. Perhaps place the screen on the back side of the communicator so wouldn't spoil the appearance too much. Still, very cool. I would have done anything to have one of these as a kid.
“I do have the universal tool which is exactly like the sonic screwdriver, except that it’s completely different, so…”
You talk the talk, but Dr Who will be very upset if you don't have a proper license from Gallifrey for any Sonic Screwdrivers you might have. It'll (none gender specific) send round the Daleks (that turned sides) to have a synthesized word in your shell-like! 😉 Very entertaining, thank you.
