You have Impostor syndrome? It sure beats having its opposite – Dunning Kreuger syndrome.
Re praise. Wow. This is the first time in 46 years that I've heard anyone else say this. I'm exactly the same. However, I've learned to graciously thank people for praise, even tho I honestly don't know what to do with it, because I see the joy they get from gifting it, and it seems worse to to deny someone that, than to just awkwrdly accept it and bounce back some realistic observations and criticism to balance it out.
I relate to pretty much everything you've said here, it's great to hear you share this experience honestly, thanks.
