It's not really the decibels - it's the frequency. Rise and Shine!!!!
"Well, I'm aware that the guy must do his work,
But the Pile Driver Man drove me berserk"
- Captain Sensible, "Wot?"
We are in year two of the street work out in front of my Philly shop. Last fall they tore up the streets all the way up to my stoop to put in new gas lines, and this time around they are finally taking out the whole street altogether to do the sewers. To start, they just have to drive in a few tiny beams. Then the real fun begins.
200 years of shipbuilding and heavy industry here on the waterfront have left a rich chemical history in the ground throughout this neighborhood. Tearing up a few square kilometers of it shouldn't be any big deal. Anyway, it will be another fun year!

That kind of sounds like one of those really big Hit and Miss engines , like one with a massive flywheel.
If only the powers that be were to declare a, let's say, 10-year moratorium on inventing new toys (iWhatever, etc.) and have inventors concentrate on what matters (such as reducing the noise made by heavy machinery), this world would be a much better place.
consturction begins 0600 so workers make most of daylight.
Imagine that with a hangover .
I'm Eliot from New York, I can dance to it, I give it a 7.
So that's what that noise was? And I'm in Liverpool!
i couldn't deal with that with a migraine. 🙁
96dB? Must be time to head out of town and do another dino den!
that is TRUELY an EVIL thing to wake up to! ;(
Jarvis, gimme a fat beat!
I can feel it from here ! Work is being done on a power sub station about a 1/4 mile from me. They are using pnuematic
hammers to break the bedrock – i can hear and feel it in my basement. I totally get it.
That's one annoying alarm.
Sounds like a hit-and-miss engine!
