I look at the data to try to ascertain what is in the mind of YouTube and why it promotes my videos so unevenly. Is it all about an upset voice coming out of a human face? You be the judge!

Why is the bell a thing? Surely subscribe is for getting notifications, isn't that what subscribe is for?

    I like your FACE!!!!!

Perhaps your conclusions are correct or, people are sick of masks. Facial expressions are a large part of communication.

Fran, I watch videos on your channel for three things
    1. To see your face
    2. To hear your voice.
    3. To see you electronics oriented content
    ALL THREE ELEMENTS ARE IMPORTANT
    – No face, no watch
    – Substitute digital voice, no watch
    – Talk about flowers, recipes or some other crap, no watch.
It the total package that brings me back time and again.
It's like having a friend who's company I can enjoy any hour of the day or night.
Someone I enjoy seeing, listening to, who talks about stuff I find interesting.
Well that's it from one viewers vantage point.
I don't know how YouTube works. I don't much care. Probably because I'm just a consumer and
not a content creator. I leave it to you to navigate the YouTube maze.

You need to do more "Hi, I'm Fran and I'm adorable" videos.

This is really interesting and important, thanks for the analysis!

Love ya, Fran, but YouTubers making videos about YouTube policy is a bit regressive, no? We all want to see videos about things you’re interested in. If you navel-gaze too much, you’ll end up chasing ratings and your integrity will go down the gurgler. Accept that humans are interested in humans. It’s an observation, not a prescription.

Your details and analysis of you tube is an education👍

It's possible that Youtube classifies a channel internally for Ad purposes based upon the most recent videos posted when monetization is first turned on. I wonder how this would have been different if you had turned on monetization during a time when you were only posting electronics videos?

I noticed the same thing on my channel. I put my face on the camera and I get a lot of views and subs. Some ppl say I am just trying to get attention by showing my face but if I don't put my face in my videos , I wont get many views. I put my 2 little girls in a video and I got 5 million views.

It could be as simple as having your face in the thumbnail makes your videos easier to spot in the sometimes overwhelming "Up next" list. It has certainly helped me decide to watch them.
