Yes, lots of stuff in my shop that I want to protect from fading and damage due to ultraviolet light exposure, so I for decades I have used inexpensive and easy to get AG Film on my shop windows to filter out the UV from sunlight. In this video I use a UVAB Light Meter to test the window film I have installed in the Lab and Office and I also test my interior lighting to make sure that my artwork is in no danger of fading. Enjoy!

This is a great video. Thanks for making this! Do you know if there are any films that exist which are more easily clear to see through? Or any acrylic? I am looking to store some collectibles in a case and could possibly wrap the case in a film for extra protection – but it would need to be pretty clear to see through :). Not sure if you have found any or tested any. Thank you!
I have a dual 80 watt… I have not sprayed my house for bugs in ions… and I have 0 bugs. So eh I built a UV moss killer on a rumba with a follow charge bot. These things ripen banannas like eh quick.
Wow! I need to investigate adding uv blocking on my home windows.
Do optics like binoculars or telescopes also magnify the amount of UV hitting your retina?
Not quite true that UV-C is blocked out by the atmosphere. With climate change and the break down of the ozone layer, there are many reports of high UV-C. Many people around the globe are reporting that plants are getting cooked. Out here in Nevada normally tough desert trees are dying. Las Vegas is cutting down thousands of ash trees.
That was actually really interesting. Not that I’m keen to go buy a bunch of protective film. But i still appreciate it. Thx Fran. 👍

Great video, awhile back you did a video on the Star Trek door chime ,really enjoyed it, came across one I had in storage, question on the switch for red alert was that a momentary push button I do have some but wondering it it would work, thanks
please switch on subtitles [CC] Closed captioning
This is interesting in light of Richard Feynman's (1918-1988) decision to watch the Trinity atomic bomb test (1945) using only the glass windshield of a truck to shield his eyes from UV (no protective goggles). Sadly, I think it wasn't the UV part of the EM spectrum that ultimately killed him, more like gamma radiation.
Fran,
I have been subscribed for a while and just noticed the last few weeks i hadnt received any notifications. I found out i was unsubscribed. Has this been a problem on your channel?
i had a few prints that faded and i only get the sun in the summer after 6pm . thanks fran
What happens if you put that film between a blacklight and something fluorescent? I’m just wondering if that would stop it from fluorescing, or not since even plain blue lights can make things fluoresce.
