Stuff just worked way back when. Now I have apps on my machine to prevent spying and disabling telemetry and other reporting. If this keeps up it will be released free with ads. /facepalm
Let’s see, XP came with IE6. As a UI Developer it was both my nemesis and hero since I made a nice salary hacking the hell out it to get it to display reasonably. Can you say, “flawed box model?”
Windows 10 does not have everything "right there" like XP. They changed the whole paradigm into something like a scavenger hunt. Whenever you want to change even the smallest most common settings – you get a succession of partly useful windows in a long chain of windows down the Ho Chi Min trail of windows. So in the end it's much easier to type what you want into the search box! That's the new way!
I ran Windows XP until well after the support ran out, but I eventually switched to Linux Mint and haven't looked back. Windows 2000 and XP were the best and most stable of Microsoft. Everything since has been a downgrade.
Try XP-Lite….even better ;). Best OS I have used , ever.
linux mint .. Fran there is no learning curve.. you should breeze thru it , should you want, load a XP system into wine and run all your fave XP programs in that .. Files and command line control are all there a click away. ( I did it and I am way past my 3 score and 10 ) .
XP was great in XP's era. Win 10 is great for the Win 10 era. No comment on Win 11.
No. Windows is a crime against nature. 😉 🙃
I support 105 Windows desktops for my job, but will never run Windows at home. Linux is SO much easier to use with virtually everything. My 85 year old mother runs Linux Mint because it is just so much easier to use, is more stable, installs easier etc. The idea that there is a "learning curve" with Linux is from 15 years ago.
Compared to windows 10, I like the mac. I have a 2011 macbook pro and it does what i need it to do when I am using it. But Compared to real versions of windows like XP I do not like them. I can even put up with Windows 7, although I still prefer and use XP over anything else.
TBH loads of my old hardware/games only work well under XP. Of course kept offline to security reasons.
I use XP too, radio programming and various serial port programs, a game or two. Userinterface. XP and linux mint.
Please don’t make me cry. I really still love and consider Windows XP the GOAT of Microsoft.
I have a Dell Latitude D510 with Windows XP and Puppy Linux. Still my daily driver and I love it.
Windows XP will always be the best. They may make it so nothing supports it eventually, but it will still be a better operating system than anything those fools can make today. And I am going to continue to use it as long as I can.
