Saturday Morning Cartoons like this 16mm film from my own collection tried in vain to get American kids to abandon their pints, pounds, and °F and love the metric system. You'll pry my yardstick out of my cold dead hand!!!!! As usual I transferred this reel with my Telecine and adjusted as much as is possible. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for archiving this. As a learned old fart, I am perturbed by the attitude of the content – but it is so important to preserve this history so that inquisitive youngsters can evolve their own sentiment of the world they are born in.
And the US still mostly ignores the metric system, even they officially adopted it AGES ago. What does that tell you about a country.
Oh wow! Another one of the series has been uploaded! I uploaded “Super Celsius” a few years back, and someone uploaded “Meter Man” too. We’re only missing one of the metric superheroes now.
Nice restoration!
It wasn’t so odd back in the day to see scribbles and countdowns, especially on local stations that weren’t syndicated. Now that decades have passed, I wonder who the girl that got the uncredited cameo is.
Body acceptance in 1978. Amazing. This restoration is pretty cool. I happen to remember seeing this way back in the day.
Great color restoration…I don't remember this one…
I think this was designed to make metric look as silly and awful as possible. They could have given it to Marvel or Disney, but obviously, it was low priority. Metric is a delight to use, and much easier than Imperial, but selling it by doing a conversation film is crazy.
Great work on the color, Fran.
In my school years, before 1975, the presentations about the metric system spent way too much effort on the way to convert numbers between the systems and not enough effort on how much easier it is to use metric measurement from start to finish.
It made most students think about the math involved in doing system conversions (multiply pounds by .454 to get kilograms or divide by 2.2).
And, there was substantial attention paid to the short term costs of additional tools.
