The museum seems to have a larger than usual amount of air an space in it.

It's a longer walk from your world, but the National Museum of the United States Air Force is awesome to visit. Just outside of Dayton, OH.

It's weird watching this, knowing that I've almost certainly walked this exact path at some point in my life. DC spring/summer vacations were a thing for like, five years when I was a kid? I remember sweltering waiting to go into the Washington monument, with a rocket pop just barely helping. I remember ice cream in too much a/c. I remember visiting again two decades later to have ice cream in what didn't feel right. I remember.

Only 150 miles for you to go there luckily, for me it would be a 3 day drive to get to that museum.

Oh wow. Been there so many times. Last time I was there, around 2006ish, it was a slow day. I was in the section with cutaway turbine engines when a small tour came up behind me. The gentleman speaking started to talk about the engine that was in his jet fighter. I turned around and John Glenn was right next to me. It was like bumping into a movie star for me. I asked a lady who was there with a clipboard if I could follow along and that I wouldn't bother him. She said no problem, I will introduce you when the tour is over. The tour ended at the main hall where his silver space suit was displayed in a glass case. It looked too small to fit him. The lady introduced us when everyone left and we talked for about 6 minutes. It was really cool to meet someone historical who actually had his stuff displayed in the museum.

Fran, how are your allergies doing. My eyes burn every time I visit DC. I work in DC on the regular.

LOVE MY CITY, except for the obnoxious car horn.

There weren't scalpers outside selling tickets?

Only in DC would there be a museum devoted to air and space! 🤪 Thanks for the heads up about the ticketing system. Hopefully that's just a "during the renovation" thing. I am glad to see them renovating that building though. It was reported to be in pretty bad shape.
