The industrial revolution was a net gain. The AI revolution will also be a net gain.

The dystopian world of Wall-E (aided by AI, robots etc) is just around the corner. Witness a hotel; that can't cope with a request to deliver a newspaper to a room. However, people will always need plumbers.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tongue-in-cheek says:

Unemployment will become the norm. A very few super rich, and masses of idle destitute.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars wolfo says:

Ok. If your point is, that we should be afraid to lose our jobs, then so should the companys. Because if many people lose their jobs, they will have no money to buy their products. Am I wrong ?

I'm a handyman, and there are many things I do that a bot can't do at all, let alone do better. Or, let's see a bot climb a tree and do a high-end pruning job, or a large removal and assess ALL the risks and strategies needed to safely do the job.

Of course this is a large group of people. It's presence suggests they lag behind the development and are willing to promote paranoia to stop the public from accessing or training the tech.

This is not right ! Fran would never wear a hat like that!
    Where's the real Fran?
Should we now look at this AI bot from now on?
    I miss Fran already…

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Apollo Skyfacer says:

We'll have to make sure we tax the AI machines. And also establish a living wage for the unemployed that those AI machines have put out of a job.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peer Paulin says:

There is a growing trend to treat people bad in companies and by politicians. It seems that they know exactly that soon the majority of their citizens become useless and thus worthless eaters. Yes Fran, I believe you hit the nail again.

cant wait for ai replacing some of my collegue @ work…

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Timmy Girard says:

Greed and Laziness. No matter what. Even at the expense of their own self interest. WalMart, DoorDash,Air BnB and, Ofcourse, Amazon. All simple examples of how people will use the very thing that will put them out of work. My wifes a Psychologist and even she's taking stock that she may be out of business because some Tech Asshole will create an AI Therapist and charge a fraction of the price and the whole greedy world will come running.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gena Trius says:

As soon as they put an AI in charge of those Atlas robots…

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hořící owo v peci says:

We really do be going for that Wall-E timeline

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Pisso says:

It's very simple. Money will cease to exist. Capitalism will cease to exist. Everything will change. Jobs will be irrelevant. They won't be a thing anymore. This doesn't mean people are not going to work on things.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken Nickels says:

How many bots does it take to replace 87k IRS workers whose goal was never clearly stated (except to say that they should not be averse to carrying a gun.)
