Get the book Tandy's Money Machine for the rise of radioshack during the oem tube era. Pretty fun read.
As a brit I had no idea what TCM was….thought it was trichloromethane…..
Some other more obscure RS brands:
* SUPERTAPE
* SAFEHOUSE
* ENERCELL
* DUoFONE
PS – Radio Shack had the weird habit of going all caps with their branding names.
Doesn't sound right to me, but then that question was not on my test to get my ham ticket KE0JBL 73'S
Was there an Archer-ival???
Very interesting, despite a complete lack of beetle butt cheese.
Maybe the fishermen were bought out by the people who later went on to form Radio Shack. Kinda like the guy who created McDonalds
I tbink Ben is pulling our legs. He has a very strange sense of humor.
I though Pulp Fiction was artificial orange juice…
I spent 40+ years as a RadioShack store manager. A buyer who came to RS with Charles Tandy told me the Archer brand was named after Archer Ave in Chicago. Every thing you said, Fran, about your understanding of RS history is exactly as I was taught it. Thanks for the great videos.
The reason Radio Shack couldn't use the name in the UK was that there was a well-established ham radio business in West London by the same name!
All fine and Tandy. TCM-comments have encouraged me to research a few times.
