When I got mine I replaced the large caps inside, some of them go bad.

These are really great meters… Another nice bit of kit and video. That box of adaptors is superb and expensive to buy….

I have one of these. It' has a lot of digits that I will never use… Plus the fan is loud! Nice to own but unless you are more techy than me, slightly pointless. 😀

I worked for a Fluke distributor, stepping out of that bubble, I see other manufacturers of quality test equipment. This is a real gold mine!

Nice! These were all expensive test equipment when new.

My go-to bench meter: I have the much more modern Keysight 34465A and Keithley DMM6500 on the bench, but the quick boot of the 34401A means it's the first (and often only) one that gets switched on.

Other Pros include the diode mode, Hi-Z resistance mode, and continuity.

On the cons, the menu system still remains a challenge for me despite years of use, but thankfully I rarely need to use it.

I used a lot of these devices back in the early 00s and I didn't realize how much I missed them until your recent series ❤ thanks!

people grew up with this little beast and its older cousins. priceless. they don't make them like this anymore. excellent!

Very nice! I do like a good VFD display. Had plenty of appliances with them when I was growing up.

Anyway, something tells me it's time to replace the resistors in your substitution box! Not much use if most of the values are wrong.

Agilent is a blast from the past for me, 25 years ago I was working as a lab technician and I may be wrong but I think we used an Agilent for titrations of silver solutions- arhhh the good old days

This is actually mid-90's technology. They kept on making them for many years since it was a very popular instrument. As mentioned in a previous comment, forget about selecting the range. This is an auto-ranging unit. Just measure! Thanks!

My, my, Christmas has come early.

Just let it auto range. You only have to select the function. I love mine. Glad you got some great kit.
