I don’t think the changes in youtube have been so good, good for who? Good for youtube not so much for content creators. Good luck on getting verified that is if it means anything anymore
YT is so confused and confusing it's almost like they're jealous of FB for being so tyrannical and changing the rules whenever it suits them. Headed down the pooper…
Youtube has serious issues. My wife has a favourite channel, which she watches on an almost daily basis, with a hundred thousand subscribers. The original channel content, indeed the channel were copied, and used to spam and push questionable content in contravention of YT TNCs , the original channel got shut down because YT couldn't differentiate between the two!
I don't think it really matters. Does it?

I think YT was pointing out it's macro vision for itself in rewind 2018… the most disliked video on YT ever btw and it's really about pumping mass market, lowest common denominator, advertiser friendly mainstream crud… and it's probably nothing but bad news for smaller channels – even the large smaller channels like EEVblog.
This wasn't supposed to be the way new media companies worked, they were supposed to be about using tech to activate the 'long tail', I read an old article about it by Chris Anderson on Wired in 2004 that was talking about the sales of mountaineering books and the power of the long tail of millions of niche passions. dunno if that turned out to be a dud theory or if YT management are just incompetent tbh… but announcing new policies and then backtracking them in days makes you look incompetent.

YouTube's CEO hasn't got a clue. She changes her mind all the time. There are loads of examples online.
These are all ploys to get rid of libertarian/conservative commentary channels that enable YouTube to do so without being explicit about it.
