Ruminations and ponderings on something that probably should be investigated for our own sake. The Biosphere can be a great ally or a formidable enemy.... discuss.

    Love you Mss,Frann

James lovelock and Gaia. The evidence is already there with satellite data from NASA and NOAA showing the 'Greening' of the earth. We grew up in a CO2 drought and the relatively small increases have shown how green and productive the planet can be.

We're just a bug on the windshield of the universe

Fran belongs to the generation that can just pick up, and dive five hundred miles like it's walking down the street. I work with people who don't like leaving their homes to eat out. I tell them I often just go out for coffee and donute just to leave my home. They think I'm nuts.

Can we wildly speculate as to what Fran is up to in DC? My guess is that she's been brought in on an alien contact project and will be our representative for a first contact mission. We can only hope!

    Nice room.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Petra Kann says:

The Gaia Theory suggests that the entire "system" self regulates.
You can call that a Biospheric fightback if you want

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dimitrios Kalfakis says:

a biosphere may not have intelligence in the form of an agent but it may have emergent properties that function as more than a set of rules and feedback loops.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Luke Lucas says:

I've often thought the same thing.

Sorry I thought this channel was about tech.
I agree that climate change is real etc etc and work in an environment that is trying to adapt ( carbon neutral etc)
    This is too much though.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul says:

Like that time I didn't know how to break up with my girlfriend so I just stopped showering?

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Capricious says:

I do not find this a fruitful or particularly interesting speculation. Precedent would seem to counter indicate the hypothesis. Did the biosphere attempt to wipeout Algae when it poisoned the previous biosphere with oxygen for instance? Had anyone ever demonstrated a precident for this hypothesis, such as an environmentally transforming species being made extinct within a few thousand years of it performing these "prohibited" activities. One may as well hypothesize that gravity or the earth holds lead balls to itself in preference to helium balloons because it "prefers" one to the other. 😮

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Thomas says:

I don't know if a biosphere is intelligent or not.. it's possible. It also could be just basic physics…if you do thing A, you get result B.
I think aliens are out there… interstellar ones. There's a lot of real estate in the universe, and a lot of distance between that real estate.
Or maybe there's civilizations so far up the scale that they don't consider us civilized yet, and not worth the trouble.
There's a whole lot we just don't have a clue about yet. Many things are possible
