An unusual scandal by a major book publisher and a major artist has many heads scratching and wondering why - including me!

Why… money!
Why….???…, Well they Did it for the MONEY..!!!!.. And Got Busted..
The Breeders are using one of your pedals. Pretty cool.
Worth $540,000 for doing nothing – except cheat the customers who will now question every 'signed' edition put out by all publishers. Oh, and their reputation, well that's down the gurgler as well.
Takes me back to the days when the call would go out backstage for the road manager to hide in a room and sign some more swag with the act's 'autigraph'. Saw that with a lot of acts over 30 years..
Was the amount of money the publisher made with this worthy of such a scheme? Major publishers are about big scams (see the price of ebooks). I have to wonder if Bob is more complicit in this than we know. I know he apologized, but…
The publisher(s) know that there are boobs out there that will buy first, ask questions later. If they’d gotten away with it, groovy for them., poo on the customer.
Someone who is willing to spend $600 for a signed book deserves to be cheated. As W C Fields said “Never give a sucker an even break.”
I remember those Strob-o-Tune you have. That was the new and improved one they had at band in school. The one they had before had tubes in it.
The only 'signed' book I have is of travel writer Bill Bryson. He'd been in a store signing books and then had also signed a bunch of labels to be placed in future bought copies of his book.
Dylan just needed an assistant to sign the books for him and he'd be fine.
I was at one of his concerts few years ago here in Czech Republic. This experience was in accord with selling copies of his autograph.
I always use a pen when I fake a Dylan signature.
This sounds like a case of "the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing". The people in marketing and/or distribution were told that they're signed copies and assumed this meant it was an actual signature.
