On May 2, the Mariner's Church in Detroit rang the bell 30 times.
You’re really funny Fran👍😂
I've never learned which generation is what, too complicated, people are born all the time. I'm 48 now. Last year I heard "If You Could Read My Mind" and heard something familiar in the chorus. Yes, "The Greatest Love Of All" 1977 written for Muhammad Ali movie, composed by Michael Masser, performed by George Benson and covered by many after that. After Whitney Houston 1985 version "Greatest Love Of All" there was a lawsuit filed by Gordon in 1987, which was eventually settled out of court. Gordon saw it causing negative effect on Houston, who had nothing to do with the composition. Masser apologised publicly.
"Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?" I'm a sailor and that one was a punch in the gut.
Thanks Fran, I'm Canadian and appreciate the Lightfoot tribute.
Gordon & Jim Croce & nobody else!
Love that you did a Lightfoot vid.
I think, from the people I've known throughout my life, that he's at least been a favorite of The Silent Generation, GenX (mine), and Millenials. I haven't heard many GenZ/Zoomers mention him but maybe it's a matter of time. I don't think any generation has really made him famous alone.
As a Gen-Xer, Yeah, my parents had records of his, and I listened to them as a kid.
Yeah, I'm having trouble now and then these days as the world empties out.
Story teller is right.Loved his music and stories and i'm from the 50's…. 🙂
Gordon used to like his S&M in Alberta.
I whistled a medley of lightfoot tunes as a backing track during this video and it was great. I do not mourn Mr. Lightfoot for I have not lost anything of him that I ever had. I didn't know him except his music which I can still enjoy. I am grateful for it.❤
Boomer here. I was lucky enough to have been to every Massey Hall concert Gord did between 69 & 75 or 76. The first one was the first time I took a girl to see a "concert" & in 75, got stood-up by another gal & I scalped her ticket. Kinda ironic to hear him sing "sit down young stranger" in those circumstances!
