You are a Scientist! I need that shirt. Great report on view of space. As for birds? Lots of window cleaner is a daily routine.

That's wacky ๐Ÿ™ƒIt's like the universe transmits its own picture book lineage through spacetime.

Hey Fran, it is worth noting that the Saturn 5 first stage engines experienced a zero failure rate from the very first one built. Is this an example of old school engineers with slide rules out performing new school engineers with state of the art computers?

It was actually the debris from the destruction of the base of the stand, all the concrete flying around. There was one wide camera angle that showed a person's car sitting next to their camera tripod getting hit by pieces of concrete. I think they knew it was going to happen, since they noted damage to the concrete under the stand in previous test fires, but probably didn't expect it to be quite that bad.

Most rocket launch platforms have exhaust flame diverters specifically for this reason, Musk was just trying to save time and money by not building one. And now he's learned why not building one doesn't save time and money. Which is pretty much his approach to all his business ventures. It's also why all of his businesses are way overvalued, because he will by his very nature waste time and money trying to save it.
