Opening a family heirloom can be nerve wracking, but I will take this one in stride. My Dad's Sound Conditioner needs a little TLC, and a little tear down - but gently! Enjoy....

My wife has one of these.
I donโt know where she found it or why but she has one
I would love to think something like this magic works but isn't it just making a noise to cover up another= just overlaying more noise??
Cool gadget they don't make em like they used to! I've been digging into the science of oils a little, is the sewing machine oil silicone? Seems like silicone oil is taking over from petrol cus it has a higher flash point, doesn't degrade rubber, and isn't toxic.
My dad is a social worker and I grew up around these machines. How funny LOL
This one brought back some memories! Back in the late 1980s I worked as an engineer for a private company owned by an older gentleman who regularly used one of these to help him sleep. When he travelled to England and stayed for a few weeks at his residence there, he had great difficulty sleeping without his wind machine. So he asked me if I could modify it for use at 230V 50Hz. I simply pressed out the lamination section of the shaded-pole motor that the coil bobbin was on, and rewound the coil with 2.3x the original turns – with magnet wire that was 4 gauges smaller. The idea was to keep the flux density using british power the same as it was on the US grid. Maybe not an ideal solution – but it was still working fine for him around 20 years later when he passed over.
Thanks Fran (& Dad).
I love using my Dad's tools.
Who DOESN'T keep their equipment in the original box with bags and manuals? ๐

They had one of these in the (completely modern) hospital room I just got out of. It worked great!
I have one of them. I still use it in my office. It was left there by the previous business owner. Works great!
Hi, Great machine, wish I had one, very impressive regards. JH
"Can't void warranty, if no warranty." *taps head
I think they chose to explain the polarized plug because the NEC standards for polarized plugs and grounding didnโt happen until the early 1960โs, so it stands to reason that some folks didnโt commonly encounter them until later in life and may have gotten frustrated that you could only plug the device in one way, or just wanted to know why the pins were different sizes
How weird this appeared on my feed. We just found one of these in my father in lawโs stuff after emptying the house for sale. Why change something thatโs not broken? Well you answered that when we saw the inside ๐
It's basically a "whispering siren" LOL
I've been using one of those every night for 30+ years. Can't sleep without it. Still works as good as the day it was new.
